Last Sunday, the New York Times published a lengthy report and extremely positive review of the Albrecht Durer exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. We have a particular fondness for this Renaissance master (1471-1528) – his small, untitled drawing for Emperor Maximilian is the centerpiece of our wine label! We have given the drawing our own title: “Cherub urging the snail.” It’s a fitting image for our brand and our business plan.

The Times goes on to praise Durer’s remarkable self-portrait in silverpoint completed in 1484: “the formal virtuoso, tackling an unforgiving medium (with silverpoint, if you make a mistake, you have to start from scratch) and mastering it.”

We are pleased that “silverpoint” is the namesake of our wine and inspiration for our winemaking.
